In 1999 Lord Grabiner was appointed a life peer by Tony Blair, but he resigned from the Labour Party when Jeremy Corbyn was elected and he now sits on the cross bench in the Lords. Lord Grabiner was Master of Clare College, Cambridge from 2014-2021. He has been married to Jane Portnoy since 1983 and has 4 children and (so far) 4 grandchildren.
