Purpose
- To create a living legacy for future generations.
- Make a commitment in your lifetime in your name and the name of a loved one of the next generation with whom you would like to share your connection to WIZO by purchasing rose bushes, herbs and other plants or furniture for the garden.
- To lead and develop quality and creative education, equipping youth with skills for the future.
- To create experiential and educational learning environments in the spirit of WIZO.
Benefits
The garden is growing! The garden and greenhouse are being used and tended to by vocational high school students, many of whom are at risk, kindergarten children and abused women and children in our Shelter.
- A new educational environment – many different subjects are being taught outside in an alternative space
- Teaching life skills within extracurricular activities
- As edible plants from strawberries to cucumbers to geraniums and herbs are grown, these will be used for food production for student meals and other activities in the school kitchen
- Emotional therapy through gardening
- Meditation in a calming space
- Healthy nutrition – organic crops
- Waste reduction and recycling
- Teaching sustainability
- Carpentry and design skills – the students have built furniture under instruction to use and enjoy nature together
Legacies
Legacies are a vital source of funding for WIZO. Over the past six years, legacy donations have funded over £1 million worth of life-changing projects, helping vulnerable families across Israel. From supporting children at risk at multipurpose day care centres to providing shelter for women suffering from domestic abuse and helping them rebuild their lives.
A legacy gift of any size or % will make a massive difference to helping future generations of Israelis become self-sufficient and contributing members of society. This in turn will create a stronger Israel for us all.
Many of our supporters kindly include a gift in their Will for WIZO once they have made adequate provision for their loved ones. As well as helping WIZO, your legacy donation can also benefit you when it comes to inheritance tax.
Leaving a legacy to WIZO is a wonderful way to ensure that together we can continue to be there for vulnerable and disadvantaged Israelis for generations to come.
