Community Centres
Since October 7th, the reality facing Israeli communities has become more difficult, exposing serious vulnerabilities across the country. The need to maintain stable supportive environments in times of crisis has been reinforced. Addressing mental heath inequalities and integrating this into community and educational settings is vital for a healthy future.
Through its 38 Community Centres, with 2,300 dedicated volunteers WIZO reaches over 25,000 people of all ages and backgrounds every year. These Centres provide a place of belonging, empowerment and a sense of community – something which has never been needed more than at this time.
The Centres offer a comprehensive programme of services providing specialised, targeted individual and group therapy treating grief and trauma together with practical, legal and financial support.
Through these Centres, lives are supported, people are empowered, and children are heard.

An Hour with a Child
One of WIZO’s most impactful national programmes, operating in 21 branches and currently supporting around 485 children who each week meet with a volunteer for an hour of focused emotional attention.
This is a space where the child is the centre of quiet, meaningful connection with an attentive adult.
The children are referred by school counsellors and often face difficulties at home, in school or socially. Many children are suffering – with the absence or loss of a parent due to the conflict or may come from a home of intense stress.
The impact of this programme for both the child and volunteer is often profound.
Safety Net
WIZO has long worked to reduce domestic violence through its prevention programmes, violent men’s hotline and shelters. The incidence of domestic violence has continued to increase due to the strains of conflict and the stress of those returning home and struggling to adapt after time away. As a result, it has become necessary to increase the reach of its Safety Net programme.
This programme, through WIZO centres, provides survivors of domestic violence with emotional and practical advice and a buddying support system after women have left the comfort of a shelter. The centres are a safe environment for recovery and decision-making.
The programme has already helped 159 women and 167 children seeking to ensure that they can live independent happy, positive lives and do not re-enter the cycle of violence.

WIZO’s Bat Mitzvah journey is a unique programme strengthening the bond between mothers and daughters during this meaningful life milestone.
At the heart of this experience is the intergenerational wisdom passed from mother to daughter — a transmission of values, strength, and understanding. Through guided conversations, girls gain not only practical tools for self-esteem and communication but also a deep appreciation for the heritage and love that guide them forward.
During these challenging times in Israel, nurturing strong family ties is essential to building emotional resilience, a sense of security and the tools for a successful, independent life.
