Together, We Can Heal A Traumatised Nation

Israel is a nation in crisis.  Still suffering from the impact of October 7, it is now facing a war with Iran.  The need for WIZO’s services has never been so great.  Together we must help those in our care.

Israel is currently facing an unimaginable crisis. In the midst of war and one of the most difficult and uncertain times in recent memory.

Lives have been lost, hundreds are wounded, and thousands—families, children, the elderly—are huddled in shelters, overwhelmed with fear. The psychological toll is immense, with many grappling with panic and anxiety, uncertain about what tomorrow will bring.

In these desperate moments, WIZO has once again stepped up to provide essential support.

Unfortunately, due to missile attacks, 10 of our vital institutions have been damaged. This has only deepened the need for immediate assistance.

As always, our foremost priority at WIZO is the safety and well-being of our children, youth, residents, staff and volunteers. WIZO is operating in full coordination with government authorities. Following Home Front Command directives, only our essential services remain open:

  • 7 Emergency Day Care Centres for infants of medical staff. This will enable doctors, nurses, technicians, social workers and more to continue saving lives, knowing their children are in safe hands.
  • WIZO shelters for women and children at risk.
  • Emergency centres and therapeutic frameworks.
  • Beit Pa’amonim Transition Home for Newborns.
  • Welfare dormitories and boarding schools.
  • Na’aleh youth and other immigrant youth housed in our youth villages.
  • Flash Trauma Response Teams – clinicians mobilised in youth villages and shelters conducting individual therapy and crisis resilience intervention for teens and mothers.
  • 24 hour support lines (*3980 for women in crisis including providing emergency protection orders during the court slowdown and relocation orders; *6968 for parents of young children; *1-800-393-904 for men in crisis).
  • Essential Community Outreach – volunteers distributing food, trauma support kits and organising emotional workshops from Metula to Eilat. Our second hand stores are channelling vital supplies to evacuees and the wounded.

It is thanks to YOUR incredible support of our Emergency Campaign since October 7 that has enabled us to put this crisis programme into action.  Vitally, WIZO institutions across the country are now better prepared for these situations.  This includes:

  • Functional generators installed in every facility, ensuring uninterrupted care and services
  • Dozens of safe rooms and shelters built or upgraded, providing critical protection for those in our care.

Now, more than ever, we need to come together as our WIZO family to provide relief to those who are suffering the most.

Please continue to help us to support those who truly need our help.

Thank you

Please support WIZO UK’s Emergency campaign to bring stability and hope to those in our care, facing emotional trauma and hardship at this time of war in Israel.
