WIZO opened its first Day Care Centre in 1926 with the aim of supporting working mothers. Today, an acknowledged leader in the field of Early Age Education, WIZO operates over 180 Day Care Centres for 15,000 babies and children empowering women to be independent and succeed in the workplace.
30% of the 50,000 babies and children are from high-risk homes and are referred by social services. They attend from 7am to 8pm and receive specialist support from social workers and psychologists. They are given three freshly prepared nutritious meals a day and are bathed and given clean clothes before returning home in the evening. The vital care given to these children by WIZO helps to greatly minimise neglect and abuse.
